Two other players were present, but on the sidelines.

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs opened their three-day mandatory minicamp at their practice facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City, Missouri.

Unlike the voluntary OTAs that concluded last week, all Kansas City players are required to attend these sessions. But according to the Kansas City Star’s Herbie Teope, three Chiefs players were not in attendance.

Offensive lineman Martinas Rankin and safety Armani Watts were also both absent from Thursday’s voluntary session, which suggests that one (or both) may be injured at this time. We already knew that offensive lineman Kyle Long is dealing with an injury that he sustained last week.

Teope also noted that cornerback Deandre Baker and linebacker Malik Herring — just as in Thursday’s OTA session — were present but not participating. Defensive tackle Chris Jones was also a non-participant on Thursday, but took part in Tuesday’s session.

The mandatory minicamp sessions will continue through Thursday. Then the team will convene for training camp in St. Joseph, Missouri on July 27.
