New Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi has quite the interesting story about how he started playing football.

Asked about how his football journey began Tuesday after an OTA session, the former Cleveland Browns defender said his dive into the sport only began because of his parents.

Ogunjobi said the following: “Sophomore year of high school, the only reason I started playing football was because my mom took away my Xbox. I was an obese kid, I was 350 pounds, couldn’t get in the football stance…”

The whole brief clip is really worth watching, as it’s Ogunjobi detailing how he initially only stuck in the sport because his mother made him. But it quickly became a rewarding journey, both because he was getting in shape and also because he was good at it.

It’s fun to get these sorts of offseason insights into players, especially new arrivals via free agency or the draft. The Bengals hope Ogunjobi’s football journey continues with his successfully helping to fill the void left by Geno Atkins.
